Marketing A Band

Bands within the UK use many different methods to promote their music, not just across the country but on a global scale. A popular method is Viral Marketing, which is uploading music to internet sites such as YouTube and Vevo. YouTube and Vevo are sites on the world wide web which you can upload videos, not just music videos but it is a great place to attract fans and followers of your music. People all over the world can access the site and watch or listen to their favourite bands for free. Many bands started off by uploading their songs to their social networking sites such as MySpace. As they created a larger fan base, they began recording more songs, which then go on sale in stores such a HMV and online music stores such as iTunes. These bands then do warm up gigs for acts with a wider fan base, this increases the capacity of people following them and their genre of music. These Bands or artists then do concert and gigs of their own in arenas such as 02 in London. They charge people to get in, and sell merchandise promoting their band even more. Viral marketing is how many bands started their career. One prime example is Arctic Monkeys who started off by using viral marketing and uploading their recordings to YouTube.
