Analysis Of Album Artwork

This is Eminem's latest album cover for Relapse, when looking at this album cover we are instantly drawn to Eminem face which is made up of what appears to be lots of different coloured pills. This stands out well on the black background. Many of the pills are red which is a connoting colour towards the theme of danger, it also connotes blood and anger. The picture looks like a piece of popart and has be created to make his image look dangeruos and angry. The name of the album is Relapse, which signifies he is coming back into the music after having a break, this signifies that music is his drug. The album has a parental advisory logo in the bottom left corner, this is typical of of Eminem as lots of his songs are very graphic and use a lot of rough language.
This album cover really connotes the theme of danger, and Eminem's eyes are really evil which stare straight at you. The font used is a convention for all Eminem albums. He makes it orignal by using an irregular letter "E" which is always the wrong way round on every album cover where he spells his name. This is unique to his album art work. The conventions for album artwork is to display a picture of the artist and this album follows these conventions. The picture itself is made out of pills which is code for drug use, the dark world of illegal substances and living on edge. The artwork draws your attention which is a conventions of all album artwork. It displays both the name of the artist and the name of the album on the label on the left hand side. This is a conventions of album artwork.
